How to use the Redirect Checker

  1. 1

Enter a URL, for example the http:// or non-www version of your site.

  2. 2

Follow the chain step by step with each status code and response time.

  3. 3

Fix loops, long chains and temporary redirects that should be permanent.

Frequently asked questions

Is my request private?

Our server sends a request to the site you enter and shows you what came back. Nothing is stored, and the site sees our server, not you.

Which redirect should I use?

301 or 308 for permanent moves, so search engines transfer rankings. 302 and 307 are for temporary moves.

How many redirects are too many?

Keep it to one. Every extra hop slows the page, and crawlers stop after about 5 to 10.
